JUNE 2024

June 16 - Sidewalk Chalk Day at the The Ann Arbor Summer Festival Top of the Park

5:00-8:00 pm on Ingalls Mall, Ann Arbor MI

David Zinn will be creating chalk installations around Ingalls Mall while Asha Jordan creates an interactive mural on Washington Street, with both artists encouraging the participation of all attendees to join the "extravaganza of personal expression" through temporary public art!

 

June 18 - BACC Children's Summer Series 

11:30 am at The Amp, 202 N. Main Street, Brighton MI

In addition to giving a short presentation that illustrates and explains the hows (and whys) behind his charming and realistic-looking 3D chalk art installations, artist David Zinn will create a scavenger hunt for his fanciful creatures around Main Street and the south end of the Brighton Mill Pond, followed by a group chalking extravaganza for all ages at the Hyne Street pavilion.

 

June 21, 23, 25, 28, and 30 - The Ann Arbor Summer Festival Top of the Park

5:00-8:00 pm on Ingalls Mall, Ann Arbor MI

David Zinn will be searching out inspirational opportunities on the sidewalks of Ingalls Mall and creating chalk installations for an all-ages audience of festival attendees. Hours and locations vary and are weather-dependent.

 

JULY 2024

July 13 - Berkeley Street Art Fest

Coolidge Highway between Catalpa and Beverly, Berkley MI

As part of Berkley's day-long celebration of public art which includes a judged chalk art competition, music, food trucks, a KidZone and an interactive mural experience by Daniel Cascardo, David Zinn will be creating a pop-up chalk installation on Coolidge Highway in the morning and then explaining his techniques in a public art workshop and demonstration from 1:00-2:30 pm. (Rain date: July 14)

 

July 18 and 20 - "Chalk the Walk" at the Ann Arbor Art Fair

1:00-3:00 pm, 200 E. Liberty Street, Ann Arbor MI

Chalk the Walk features Ann Arbor’s own world-renown artist David Zinn. Recognized globally for his clever and improvised chalk street art, Zinn will be creating his original temporary chalk work live during the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair event.

Sidewalk chalk will be available so that fairgoers can join in on the creativity and add their own mark on this year’s Ann Arbor Art Fair. (Rain date: July 19)

 

July 25 - Three Pines Studio Chalk Art Demo and Workshop

1:00-2:30 pm at Three Pines Studio, 5959 W. Levering Rd, Cross Village MI

Artist David Zinn has charmed millions of followers worldwide with his whimsical and innovative sidewalk art! David will show you how to create your own ephemeral masterpieces underfoot using chalk, charcoal and an unfettered imagination.

Be prepared to kneel, stoop or sit; kneepads or towels may be useful. All other materials are included.

All ages welcome, but an actively engaged parent or guardian is required for children eight and under. Cost $50 (includes materials)

August 2 - Traverse City's Downtown Street Sale and Friday Night Live

Don’t miss out on this Downtown tradition since 1958! The street shuts down, merchants will set up displays right on the street, and the shopping will go strong from sun up to sundown. Score some deals, find covetable gifts, and get out and about in the energetic vibes of downtown TC. It’s a local favorite!

Where: Front Street between Union Street and Park Street

When: 8am-9pm (not all businesses will be open this late)

This is a FREE event for all ages. David Zinn will be creating his underfoot friends at various times during the day on Front Street and demonstrating his chalk art techniques at 6pm in front of The Spice Merchants and Nifty Things.

August 24 & 25 - Brighton Street Art Fair

6:00 pm Saturday and 12:00 pm Sunday, Main Street between Grand River and West, Brighton MI

David Zinn will be creating his original temporary chalk work live in the activity area while also selling and signing his books, prints, postcards, calendars, and tote bags.

Sidewalk chalk will be available so that fairgoers can join in on the creativity and add their own mark on the streets!
